A Surprise Reunion for Former CAEP Trainee and Hosts
On a CAEP cultural exchange program, you not only get to travel the world, gain new skills, explore a new culture, and build your resume with a paid training program, you will have the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people and make life-long friendships with fellow trainees, Americans, and your hosts. Recently, CAEP horticulture alum Pablo Ardila from Columbia visited his former hosts in Minnesota. CAEP horticulture host and owner of Bergen’s Greenhouses, Mara Bergen, shared their surprise reunion with us.
“We had a surprise visit from Juan Pablo Ardila, who is from Columbia and was placed with us a few years back. He had a week vacation from work and came back to the USA to visit us and friends. What was most inspiring is he credits his time here at Bergen’s for securing him a better job now in Columbia. He is currently working for a Ukranian Chemical Company in Columbia,” Bergen shared.
He had a few questions for our head grower on how to advise some of his current customers. We had him tell his story to our current interns, they loved meeting him and asking him questions. It really reassured us that great things do come from this program, and we are so happy to be a part of this global exchange. He wanted a selfie with us- so much fun! Juan then sent me an instant message saying, “thank u for making what I am now.” We are so proud of the man he has grown up to be!”
