Adventures: Luis Fernando Barra
I’ve always wanted to know another country. When I met CAEP, I saw the opportunity to live outside my country and to improve my knowledge in the field I studied in college. During the program, I always had the freedom to travel on my days off. My host even lent me his car. I always went to visit friends who I met on the program. I also went to We Fest (a large Country Music Festival, located in Detroit Lakes, MN) and the Big Iron Farm Show in North Dakota.
After finishing my CAEP internship, I returned home to finish my college. Soon after finishing college, employment opportunities appeared to me. Today, I am working in the agriculture area and my experience I had [on the CAEP program] is helping me.
When I returned home, many friends came to ask me how my experience was. I had good things to talk about and always point them to CAEP.
If you are thinking about doing a CAEP program, I would say, do not think twice. Joining CAEP has several good factors: knowledge, amusement, and an experience that you have to live to learn. I had the opportunity to meet other people from different countries.
Luis completed an agriculture internship, focusing on crop management in 2011.
