David Cipamocha’s Journey Through CAEP: A Story of Growth, Learning, and Cultural Exchange

David Cipamocha, a talented agricultural enthusiast from Colombia, is completing his CAEP agriculture training at Corsos Sons in Sandusky, Ohio. This program has given him invaluable hands-on experience that is enhancing his skills in irrigation, chemical application, weeding, pruning, planting, and advanced irrigation systems. This unique opportunity has allowed him to build a foundation for a promising career in the agricultural sector while immersing himself in American culture.

Before joining the CAEP program, David studied Agricultural Engineering at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC). With a strong academic background, he was eager to gain international experience and expand his expertise in agriculture. His main motivation for participating in the CAEP program was to broaden his knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and build a robust network within the agricultural industry.

Gaining Expertise in Horticulture

The hands-on experience David is experiencing at Corsos Sons is an integral part of his growth. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, David has been developing valuable skills, such as working with advanced irrigation systems and understanding the intricate details of agricultural chemical application and weeding. He has actively participated in a variety of tasks, including planting, pruning, and managing the overall maintenance of plants. This practical exposure has allowed David to enhance his technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of American horticulture practices.

David shared how his host has made a positive impact on his training: “My host has significantly impacted my learning by sharing valuable insights, teaching me new techniques, and exposing me to various agricultural practices. This training will be instrumental in my future, equipping me with practical skills and real-world experience that I can apply in my career. Hands-on training is crucial because it fosters problem-solving skills and boosts my confidence in executing agricultural tasks effectively.”

Traveling and Exploring New Places

One of the most exciting aspects of the CAEP program for David has been the chance to travel across the United States. Throughout his time in the program, he has had the opportunity to explore numerous iconic destinations. From Chicago to New York, Pittsburgh to Cleveland, Detroit to Columbus, Niagara Falls, and even Cedar Point, David has embraced the opportunity to discover new places, all while aquiring his American driver’s license, which has allowed him to explore even more freely.

David spoke about his travels: “I have participated in community activities, which have deepened my appreciation of American culture. The cultural aspect of the CAEP program has been an eye-opening experience. During my exchange, I have had the privilege of meeting and sharing experiences with friends from all over the world, including Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Kenya, Belize, and Mexico. I have enjoyed learning about American customs, traditions, and daily life. My perception of America and its people has evolved positively; I have met many kind and welcoming individuals who have made me feel at home.”

A Bright Future Ahead

When David returns to Colombia, he plans to further his education by pursuing a master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Reflecting on how the CAEP program has influenced his professional journey, David remarked, “The CAEP program has significantly contributed to my career path by giving me confidence, technical skills, and a broader perspective on the agricultural industry.”

A Life-Changing Experience

David’s journey through the CAEP program has been nothing short of transformative. Not only has he gained expertise in horticulture, but he has also connected with fellow international participants and learned from diverse cultures throughout his program. He offers his heartfelt testimonial: “I highly recommend CAEP because it offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn new techniques, and connect with professionals from around the world. This program has been a life-changing experience for me, and I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge and connections I have gained.”
