Celebrating Women Worldwide
Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate all women, but especially women in agriculture who are breaking the bias!
Why do we celebrate this day, especially in 2022, where most women in America work, learn and perform the same job duties alongside their male counterparts? Although not so long ago in the 1970s, America looked much different. A woman was not guaranteed her job if she were pregnant, she was not able to participate in the Boston Marathon, apply for a business loan or credit card without a male cosigner, go to an IV League School, serve on a jury, or fight on the front lines. Today, we celebrate the progress of women’s rights and recognize that collectively our country is still making efforts for the betterment of women every day. At CAEP, we will continue to fight for the success of women from all over the globe.
Exchange programs contribute notably to American public diplomacy efforts, and CAEP remains committed to providing training and educational opportunities for women worldwide, especially for women from economically challenged countries. Our goal is to help women feel empowered by equipping them with an education, global connections, and new career skills through our training programs.
According to International Womens Day, today marks a “global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.”
“The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.
Marked annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:
- celebrate women’s achievements
- raise awareness about women’s equality
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
- fundraise for female-focused charities“
