Meet Ginaldo Michel from Haiti
“I am currently a student at American University of The Caribbean in Haiti and was inspired to go abroad because I knew having international experience would be an important component in my professional career. I also knew it would help me gain more skills to help farmers in my country along with improving my English skills.
My training is at Todd Greiner Farms in Hart, Michigan. My host Todd is so kind. I learned how to apply pesticides and fertilizer. I also learned how to drive a tractor. Some of my daily duties included picking pumpkins, cherries, peaches, sweet corn, and apples.
On Sundays, my host, his family and I went would go to the Asian buffet and then the cinema. My favorite American movie was about American astronaut, Neil Armstrong.
I have personally benefited from participating in my CAEP program because I learned more about agriculture, I learned different things about the American culture including music and cooking and that America is made up of good people. I learned about different cultures and made new friends forever.
I am so happy with the CAEP program for the opportunities it gave to me. I recommend CAEP to my friends and family back home. I will share all that I learned in America with farmers in my home country.”
